The Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards Dinner is the annual fundraising event of the Sir Richard Hadlee Sports Trust. This formal black tie event is recognised as Canterbury’s premier event that celebrates sporting excellence in the region.

Now into its 17th year running, the Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards Dinner aims to raise the level of awareness of Canterbury sportspeople and to generate funds for future sponsorship grants to young individuals in need.

The Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards Dinner consists of 13 award categories, culminating into the overall Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Supreme Award.

Over 100 nominations have been received for the 2008 Canterbury Sports Person of the Year Awards for the following categories:

2008 Awards Dinner

The 2008 Canterbury Sports Person of the Year awards dinner will be held on Friday the 31st of October 2008 at the Christchurch Convention Centre.
