Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year
The Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards Dinner is the annual fundraising event of the Sir Richard Hadlee Sports Trust. This formal black tie event is recognised as Canterbury's premier event that celebrates sporting excellence in the region.
Now into its 19th year running, the Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards Dinner aims to raise the level of awareness of Canterbury sportspeople and to generate funds for future sponsorship grants to young individuals in need.
The Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards Dinner consists of 13 award categories, culminating into the overall Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Supreme Award.
2009 Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards Dinner
The 2009 winners of the Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards were announced at the annual awards dinner held on on Thursday, 1 October 2009 at the Christchurch Town Hall Auditorium.
Sophie Pascoe was awarded the overall supreme award, in addition to to 3 other awards, that recognised her achievements of 2008-2009. The full list of winners are:
