About the Trust
The Sir Richard Hadlee Sports Trust is a non-profit charitable trust established in August 1990.
The purpose of the trust is to provide assistance to young Cantabrians, under the age of 25, where hardship prevents them from fulfilling their cultural or sporting endeavours. Information regarding sponsorship or funding is available here.
Since its beginning the trust has made hundreds of grants to Cantabrians under 25 across a wide range of cultural and sporting disciplines.
Like many charitable organisations, the trust is reliant on ongoing financial assistance in order to make grants available to young Canterburians in need.
The Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards
The Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards Dinner is the annual fundraising event of the Sir Richard Hadlee Sports Trust. The annual dinner has been running since 1991 and is supported by many Canterbury corporate bodies, sports associations and finalists every year.
This event is a major contributor to the trusts ability to provide funding to Canterbury's disadvantaged sporting and cultural community. More information regarding the dinner including the previous winners of the Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards can be found here.
Trustees
To ensure that the aims and objectives of the trust are achieved on an ongoing basis, the trust is administered by Sir Richard Hadlee (Patron); trust Chairman John Campbell and trustees Karen Hadlee, Nicholas Hadlee, Pamela Lindsay, Lesley Murdoch, Sue Teague and John Wendelkin.
