Trust Profile

To ensure that the aims and objectives of the trust are achieved on an ongoing basis, the trust is administered by Sir Richard Hadlee (Patron); trust Chairman John Campbell and trustees Karen Hadlee, Nicholas Hadlee, Pamela Lindsay, Lesley Murdoch, Sue Teague and John Wendelkin.

Over the past 17 years, the trust has made many grants to Cantabrians under 25 across a wide range of cultural and sporting disciplines, to assist them in achieving their goals.

The trust relies on ongoing financial assistance in order to make grants of either cash or sporting equipment available to young Canterbury sportspeople in need.

A requirement to establish and maintain a funding base for individuals, not just teams, was identified. The Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Awards Dinner is a major contributor towards meeting this need.

The annual sports awards dinner is now into its 16th year of running and is supported by many Canterbury corporate bodies, sports associations and finalists every year.

The trust aims to fulfil its role of developing excellence in young sportspeople and is contributing towards the future of New Zealand sport and culture.
